BIRMINGHAM NEWS – Kentucky basketball signee Eric Bledsoe has made the grades he needs in his final high school courses to be eligible to play as a college freshman next season, Parker High School coach Maurice Ford said this morning.
Ford said the high school will send Bledsoe’s transcript to the NCAA Clearinghouse this week. Bledsoe, who scored a 17 on his ACT test earlier, Ford said, was scheduled to go through Parker High’s graduation ceremonies today.
The point guard, ranked No. 1 on The Birmingham News’ postseason list of Super Seniors, signed with Kentucky at a public ceremony at Parker High two weeks ago.
He’ll have more competition for playing time now that various news outlets are reporting that John Wall, from Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., also has committed to UK.
Rivals.com ranks Wall as the No. 1 point guard and No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2009 and ranks Bledsoe as the No. 3 point guard and No. 23 overall prospect.
