UK DENIES FIRING; BILLY DONOVAN IN LEXINGTON?

UK has issued a statement through WHAS (the channel that initially reported the firing) that no decision has been made on Billy Gillispie and that he is still coach of the University of Kentucky.
This is likely a classic case of information getting out a little earlier than UK wanted, and they want to control the message.
One message, however, that they cannot control, is that Billy Donovan has reportedly checked into the Lexington Downtown Hotel, according to Lonny Demaree.

Don is wrong. Absolutely Wrong Actually. Gillispie is not a “high level” coach as evidenced by losses to Gardner-Webb, Houston, San Diego, UAB, VMI, etc. Gillispie is at the big boys table wearing a bib. However, I would rather see him stay at UK as opposed to get a down coach like Donovan. He would have UK back in time, however, it would make me feel better to have a coach with a little “sheer coaching ability” and not be such a ‘player-coach’. I say go for the GOLD (calipari, howland, ryan, etc.) or keep Gillispie……………..
I think that the only viable option among your “GOLD” category is John Calipari, and I have heard that UK could still pursue him. However, I don’t see it happening if Lee Todd and Sandy Bell are still at UK…and they’re not going anywhere.
Big Blue is not DEAD! This is a Basketball state! Always has been always will be. To Billy G, I think he’s getting the shaft. Guys a good coach, just a little out of his league. I blame the A.D.Barnhart! He panicked and pitched the job to the first guy he KNEW would say yes. Should have held out a little longer. He’s an idiot, why does he still have a job?
I agree with TruBlu, was a fan for 30 years, I can’t stand Barnhardt and I don’t think Kentucky will succeed with any coach until that man is GONE! He is spineless and hides behind his alumini. Kentucky fans won’t give an inch when it comes to basketball, it doesn’t matter who you get, if they season isn’t perfect then everyone will be preaching for the next coach to be fired as well. I wish the best for who ever comes, it’s a tough job!!!

Can’t wait to hear that UK comes to its senses and fires Mitch Barnhart and Lee Todd. They have both ruined UK sports and should be run out of town!!
Billy G. is an arrogant jerk. He is an alcoholic with an alcoholic personality. I know many that stood behind him as long as possible but after his snide remarks during ESPN half time interviews, not once, but twice…he showed who he was and does not deserve to represent the University of KY! Kudos…Mitch B. needs to go too!
Anybody who would quit on uk because of billy getting fired was never a uk fan to begin with. why would anybody want a coach who doesn’t want to represent the program with class doesn’t need to be in lexington.
