Hold Up…Is the Terrence Jones Thing Over Yet?

Just when we thought it was time to move on and think about a UK team with Darius Miller and maybe Marcus Thornton manning the four position next season, Terrence Jones inserts just a bit more drama into all of our lives.
According to the Seattle Times, Jones has not yet signed his LOI to attend Washington next season. Not only that, but Jones spoke to John Calipari for 15 minutes AFTER making his verbal pledge to Washington and is now up in the air about his decision.
The simple fact that John Calipari made that phone call shows just how important landing Jones is to him. If UK is going to compete at the highest level, it really seems TJ needs to be part of the equation.
As Jones sat at the podium before announcing, he said that he had yet to make his decision, which based on everything that has gone on seems very possible. Jones was in an environment where he knew the people around him were pulling for him to stay close to home, foremost among which was Terrence Ross. If he was truly undecided, that could have influenced him to pick Washington.
Jones’ mother said that UK was the clear second choice. Add that to the fact was willing to talk to Cal immediately after his decision and it seems very possible that Jones could make a late, dramatic switch.
I’m resting at home to prepare for a long Derby day tomorrow, so I will keep you posted if anything more develops.
