Coach Cal may not be done putting the finishing touches on his stellar 2009 recruiting class, but that’s certainly not going to top him from doing work for 2010.
Proof of this is 5 star center Adreian Payne. Payne is from Dayton, Ohio (aka Lexington North), measures in at 6-10 215 lbs., and will be visiting the University of Kentucky this weekend. He is the number 13 overall player and #4 center in the class of 2010 according to Scout.com, the #8 overall player and #2 center according to Rivals.com, and the #28 overall player according to ESPN. Here is Scout.com’s scouting report on Payne:
Serious prospect. Long, shot blocking player who goes above the rim. Has the potential to be a professional basketball player. Needs to develop his offense, get comfortable with a scoring move or two. Defensively he’s already there. Blocks shots, runs well and when focused can be Superman on the glass.
If I had to guess, I would say that Patrick Patterson will act as his tour guide in Lexington, and can you imagine a better tour guide for a big man thinking about coming to UK? He currently has a long list of schools that includes UK, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Pitt, Dayton, and Tennessee.
