UK Recruit Josh Selby will attend “Late Night in the Phog”

The #8 ranked player in the ESPNU 100, Josh Selby, will make his way to Lawrence, Kansas this Friday for ‘Late Night in the Phog.’

The visit to Kansas will be an unofficial visit as Selby plans on taking either the ACT or SAT in the coming weeks. Once Selby has taken one of the tests he can, then, make official visits to schools.

Selby re-opened his recruitment in July after decommitting from Tennessee, where he originally committed in September of 2008. After hosting a number of schools this September for in-home visits, Selby and his mother, Maeshon Witherspoon, narrowed the list of schools on September 27th (article here) to six schools, Baylor, Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky, Miami and Indiana.

As for why the decision to visit Kansas for ‘Late Night,’ according to Witherspoon, credit should go to the Kansas coaching staff.

Here are some more recruiting notes from the C-J’s Jody Demling

Shelby Valley guard Elisha Justice had a visit from Louisville assistant coach Walter McCarty last Friday. Justice is talking with the U of L coaching staff about joining the team as a walk-on. Shelby Valley coach Jason Booher said the 5-foot-11 Justice will make a visit to the U of L campus this weekend. Justice has scholarship offers from Eastern Kentucky University and Jacksonville.

South Kent (Conn.) small forward J.J. Moore is still slated to make his official visit to the Louisville campus this weekend. He’s also considering Florida, Pittsburgh and St. John’s.

Another U of L target – South Kent’s Jesse Morgan – committed on Monday to Seton Hall. He recently received a scholarship offer from the Cardinals.

The U of L staff has also been in contact with and watched Franklin County High School senior standout Vance Hall. His high school coach, Scott Chalk, said Wright State, Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky have all shown interest.

Also, the C-J has just created a new page which strictly deals with UK, UofL and IU recruiting. I’d advise checking it out.
