It has happened… The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio has performed the nation’s first face transplant!!!

The actual operation took place a couple weeks ago, as over 80% of a woman’s face was replaced with that of a dead female donor’s.  The first ever occurrence was three years ago in France on a woman who was mauled by her dog.  Only two other have been documented since then, a Chinese farmer attacked by a bear and a European who was disfigured by a genetic condition.

Ok, in the animal mauling situations I’m on board with this.  But if Cher and Rocky Dennis have taught us nothing else in this world, it’s that we are who we are for a reason.
