What are you searching for?

By: Guy | March 9th, 2009 | Category: Hilariousness - Weird

Probably the best move we made in starting this madness that we call Straitpinkie.com (other than just being generally awesome, of course) was to sign up for service called Feedjit. Feedjit automatically tracks who is visiting our site in real time, which page they arrived on, their location, and how they arrived (direct hit, Google search, link, etc.). Click here to see our live feed

At first, it just scared me. If some start-up sports blog can see who is on their site and where they live, what can the government do? That notion still scares me a little, but Feedjit has turned into an easy way for us to see if we are having a lot of visitors in a given day.

More importantly, though, Feedjit has become a constant source of amusement for the Straitpinkie crew. You see, people type in some strange Google searches that direct people to the Pinkie. We get to see those Google searches, and over the past few months, we have been storing them up to eventually share with our readers.

That day has come. The following is a list of some of the strangest, funniest, craziest internet searches that have caused people to encounter the Pinkie. It serves as a testament to both the awesomeness of the Pinkie and the awesomeness of search engines (especially Google).

The “I live in Glendale, Arizona and I desperately need a Snuggie” category

Glendale, Arizona arrived from google.com on “Get You A Snuggie Today!” by searching for “i need a snuggie today”.

Glendale, Arizona arrived from google.com on “Get You A Snuggie Today!” by searching for “how can i get a snuggie today”.

There are one of two possibilities here: (1) this is the same person (2) people keep their thermostats too low in Glendale, either way it’s hilarious. If it’s the first case (the more likely alternative), then this person really urgently needs a Snuggie, and his/her first Google search attempt failed. If it’s number 2, then it’s a huge coincidence.

The Funny Thanksgiving Arrivals

Madras, Tamil Nadu arrived from google.co.in on “Gene’s Tinksgiving Recollections…” by searching for “childhood greatness”.

Seriously, what on earth was this person looking for and how did it possibly lead them to the Pinkie?

Melbourne, Victoria arrived from google.com.au on “Get The Tinksgiving Turkey Ready” by searching for “how to get a turkey ready”

The Pinkie can help you with a lot of things in your life, but if you need help preparing a Thanksgiving turkey, you’re going to have to look elsewhere.

Low Boobs Category

Saint John, New Brunswick arrived from google.ca on “Low Boobs?” by searching for “low boobs”.

Stabroek, Antwerpen (BELGIUM) arrived from google.be on “Low Boobs?” by searching for “low boobs”.

Back in November, we posted a picture of a cheerleader whose anatomy seemed to be just a little bit abnormal. Apparently we hit on an international phenomenon that people in Canada and Belgium wrestle with quite a bit.

Amazingly Specific Searches-These don’t really need much of an explanation

Palestine, Texas arrived from google.com on “straitpinkie.com |” by searching for “cat that almost died of grief when its partner was run over by a car”.

Cleveland, Ohio arrived from google.com on “Fantasy b-ball breakdown – Three Hole Punch Jim” by searching for “need really good three hole punch”

Aurora, Colorado arrived from google.com on “Straitpinkie.com” by searching for “100-0 The Covenant School apologized and asked conference officials that the game be recorded as a forfeit”.

Santa Maria, Pampanga arrived from search.msn.com on “straitpinkie.com |” by searching for “what is the golden rule in basketball as Mr. edd Burleson of Texas Association of Private and Parochial was saying ?”.

Cincinnati, Ohio arrived from google.com on “American Idol – Louisville Auditions” by searching for “what stores can you buy a michael jackson glove in cinncinati”

The “How could that search possibly have gotten you to the Pinkie?” Category

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania arrived from google.com on “Lovely Ladies of Friday Night Lights…UH YUMP!!!” by searching for “lovely ladies of the night”.

This one gets the award for weirdest search and also the award for most likely to be a title for a song by Flight of the Conchords.

United States arrived from search.live.com on “nuts | straitpinkie.com” by searching for louisville.

First of all, I don’t know why we have a tag for “nuts”, second, how did Google come up with this page on the Pinkie?

Girls Drive Guys to Do Some Weird Things

Auckland, New Zealand arrived from google.ca on “Rolf’s Fav Five Pickup Lines” by searching for giraffe pick up lines.

I’ve heard of some dumb pickup lines, but certainly never one that involves a giraffe in any way.

Sleepy Eye, Minnesota arrived from google.com on “01/21/09 National Hugging Day” by searching for JULEANN HOUF ADOPT A MONKEY.

Apparently this guy loves Julianne Hough so much he would be willing to adopt a monkey to win her heart, but he doesn’t love her enough to even come close to spelling her name the right way.

Is that a serious question?

Dover, Delaware arrived from google.com on “A Look Inside UK Basketball” by searching for “what is the inside of a basketball made of”

Ummmm…air.

We’ve talked a lot about how messed up we all are here at the Pinkie, so it’s nice to know we have that in common with our visitors!
