Straitpinkie's first ever local Yump! of the Week is Louisville's own Kristin.

Short Bio: I am a native Louisvillian—born and raised in this wonderful city. I have the best family one could ever ask for; they have given me everything I could ever want or need. My parents are the most amazing on this planet. They have been married for an astounding 42 years and counting after meeting each other at the University of Louisville as a former UofL basketball player and the official Cardinal bird mascot!

I have one brother who is 15 months older than me; mess with me and he will send his big black lab in your direction (and my Pomeranian will be right behind). I grew up in the Catholic school system—St. Agnes Grade school, then on to Sacred Heart Academy High School (don’t worry, I wasn’t scarred by any priests, however I also don’t have a penis).

Volleyball and basketball were my life up until attending the University of Louisville. I didn’t play in college because after spending every day of the year busting my a$$ for Varsity Volleyball/Basketball (as well as joining travelling teams for each) I had had enough. I was burnt out by age 14, literally, but continued on out of loyalty (as well as partial enjoyment, and I was good at them—especially volleyball).

I ended up earning my B.A in Psychology from UofL, as it was the only subject that could hold my attention. I am currently contemplating going back for a Master’s. Presently, I work at The Brook Hospital (a psychiatric hospital) while also writing articles as the Louisville Singles Examiner for Examiner.com. I love both jobs.

I am a pretty laid-back kind of girl. You will usually see me sporting some comfortable clothes (maybe a little too often; I was a giant tom-boy when I was younger). However, I do clean up quite nicely when I make the extraordinary effort that it feels to make me do this.

I consider myself a caring, passionate, goofy, unique, fun, random, and special person. I tend to be an introverted dreamer, of sorts, while I have my moments of busting out of my shell. Therefore, my close friends know me best and have seen the many facets, good and bad, of my exquisite personality (I am also slightly sarcastic).

1. Cats or Cards? Favorite Player? Cards for life; this year, my favorite player is T-Will, but I honestly am not a die-hard fan or anything, unlike the rest of my family.

2. What’s the worst pick-up line/lines you’ve ever heard? Hmm, that’s a toughie. I can’t think of anything that sticks out in my mind that someone has said to me in person; online, now that’s a different story. One guy definitely had me at “Can I munch on your taco?”

3. What’s the best or most creative pick-up line you’ve heard? I would like it if a guy said, “Can I buy you a drink, or do you just want the money?” I’m not a fan of pick-up lines.

4. What approach is most likely to work with you?
I would appreciate an honest, “Hi, how are you? I think you are very beautiful and would like to get to know you.” Or something like that… I guess.

5. How many pushups can you do? I can do the one-handers, clap-in-betweeners, army-style pushups, man….NOT. I am not in the shape I once was. I would probably have to do some girly-girl ones right now…maybe like three sets of ten.

6. Who would you cast to play you in a movie? If Carrie Underwood was an actress, I would choose her because that’s the celebrity I am told I look most like (which is fine by me!). If I had to pick an actual actress, then I guess I would go for Charlize Theron; she is hot, has blonde hair, similar body-structure, and is an exceptional actress.

7. Complete this sentence- Chuck Norris… Is probably a nice guy that everyone makes fun of too much!

8. More impressive: Muscles or Humor? Definitely humor; muscles may gain initial attention from afar, but you have to have someone who makes you laugh and always have fun with.

9. Based on the growing tensions between North and South Korea in addition to the eminent launch of a “satellite”, what course of action would you recommend to defuse the situation and resolve the brewing humanitarian crisis in the North? Well, hold on; let me Google this… Hmm…make love not war, people!

10. What’s the first thing you notice about a guy? His face—especially eyes; the eyes really are the window to the soul.

eye

11. Are you a beer or mixed drink kind of girl? I enjoy them both, though I tend to go for the beer—for the sake of my wallet. If I do decide to splurge, it’s usually on my favorite, Southern Comfort (or amaretto) and Diet…go ahead and laugh.

medance

12. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Roll Pop? I am too impatient (when it comes to food) to tell; a few licks and sucks, then a nice tasty bite…Get your head out of the gutter.

13. What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? The first thing that came to mind happened not too long ago. I had just met this guy at the park to walk my dog when one of his kids wanted to race me down a big hill. Being the idiotically competitive person I am, I actually put a lot of effort into it and about 25 feet later was covered in grass stains and bruises.

14. In your opinion, what is the best way for a guy to approach a group of girls? A group of girls—that’s a little risky. I think that if he has his eye on one of them, which I am sure he does, then he should approach her and put his attention on her alone. Not sure of the exact wording he should go for; like I said, just be honest (and funny, if possible).

15. Favorite place to eat at 4 a.m.? Would have to be Steak ‘n’ Shake, though there isn’t one close enough to the bars; but give me a large cheese fry and a split-shake with chocolate and strawberry! Mmm… I may have to go there…like right now.

16. A guy offers to buy you a drink at a bar. You say??? Depends on my mood, the guy, and if I want to have a conversation with him. If he is eligible, then sure, but if I’m not in a social mood then it’s a sincere smile with a “No thanks, but thank you for the offer.”

mepiz

17. When you’re at a bar/club and want to dance, you tend to dance…on the dance floor? Or on the bar? If I am in dance-mode, then it would be on the dance floor. I have never really been the on top of the bar kind of gal, though I have my moments of dancing like an idiot who thinks she is a stripper (minus the loss of clothing).

Turn ons: Humor, charm, intelligence, good-looks don’t hurt (though attractiveness can be built through getting to know someone, for sure), confidence (but not overly-cocky), politeness, honesty, someone who gets along with my friends/family, a guy who knows how to treat others with the respect they deserve; a guy who actually smiles in his license picture!

Turn offs: Big egos, hypocrites, liars, cheaters, dumba&&es, idiotic drunks, know-it-alls, close-mindedness, no ambition or passion towards life.

Favorites:
Food? Oh, how I absolutely loooove food. I am made fun of for eating way too fast and becoming overly addicted to certain dishes. Speaking of which, I had one yesterday called Theresa’s Sweet Chili Linguini from the Bristol and ate most of it right then, though I wasn’t hungry at all; my friends wanted to go there, so I had to order it (and save some for later). I also get the same sandwich from Subway every time. I used to go there literally every single day but have cut back since I graduated from UofL. I love Panera Bread, Qdoba, Tumbleweed, my dad’s cooking…the list goes on… I eat almost everything except seafood, “weird” meats, mustard, mayo, and pickles.

Sport? Volleyball and basketball; I was better over-all at volleyball and “famous” for my jumpserve while shooting was my forte in basketball.

Animal? First and foremost, my little Snickers, my adorable Pomeranian; secondly, bears! They’re so cute.

snick

Song? I cannot pick just one. I will always stay true to Justin Timberlake and the Backstreet Boys—call me a dork aaalllll you want! However, I enjoy most types of music. One song that I can’t seem to get sick of is “Better Man” by Pearl Jam. I don’t get sick of songs too often, though.

TV Show? Once again, can’t pick one. My favorites are Sex and the City, Friends, Dr. Phil, Oprah, Intervention, and One Tree Hill.

Movie? I will see anything with Leonardo DiCaprio—he is amazing. Girl-wise: Rachel McAdams.

Book? I have read everything of Augusten Burroughs (Running with Scissors, Dry, etc.) and Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, etc.)

Bar/Club/Hangout? Everything Bardstown Road/Baxter Ave; usually end up at O’Sheas, Dublin’s, The Back Door, Barrett Bar, etc; however, I also enjoy experiencing little hole in the wall bars for a more laid-back (and cheaper) atmosphere.
