Local YUMP! Maria from Erlanger

Meet Maria. She would love for nothing more than to be able to teleport down to DisneyWorld and dine on some Italian food while watching monkeys. Then go out and dance the night away.
Maria in 60 seconds or less: I love to dance! I’ve taken tap, ballet, and jazz since I was three. I currently teach a tiny tots (3-year-olds) dance class, and still take tap myself. I love reading, fashion, theatre, and all things celebrity, hence my desire to work in the entertainment industry. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky and was on the UK Pom Squad and an Alpha Delta Pi. I’m currently in sales, and I am working toward an MBA from Northern Kentucky University. I wear my heart on my sleeve. My family and friends are my world. Those that know me best say I’m good at telling funny stories (which also happen to be true about my life!). My idols are Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, and Walt Disney. I’ve never met a store I didn’t like.
1. Cats or Cards? Favorite Player? CATS! I’m a UK alum and Wildcat 4 Life!
2. What’s the best/worst pick-up lines you’ve ever heard? Best: “Come sit on my lap and we’ll talk about the first thing that pops up!”–only because I find it hilarious that this was the first thing my dad ever said to my mom! HA. Worst: “Can I buy you a drink?”–A word to the wise, you’ll be out 5 bucks and 9x/10 the girl will walk away with the drink and without you!
3. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where ya going? DisneyWorld…the happiest place on Earth!
4. Favorite cartoon growing up? The Jetsons. I was also an avid Sesame Street fan.
5. Ice Age beasts likely fell victim to a combination of factors, and not just changing climate, according to a new study that finds prehistoric hunters also played a role in the extinctions. Woolly mammoths and woolly rhinos disappeared more than 6,000 years ago, along with a third of large mammal species in Asia and more than two-thirds in North America. Scholars have long debated whether “overkill” by prehistoric hunters or “overchill” by a shifting climate was the culprit in this mass extinction.
With the rising fear and pandemonium surrounding global warming, do you forsee a “Heat Age” anytime soon (within the next 6,000 years) or do you think hunters will be the primary cause for the extinction of what majestic animals we have left on Earth?
There may be a heat-age…..I’m extremely paranoid about the environment. I do recycle paper…although that’s probably not much help in the grand scheme of things!
6. Unicorns – beautiful mythological creatures or terrifying mutant horses? Beautiful creatures…I’d like to believe there’s one out there somewhere!
7. How many pushups can you do? Maybe 5. I hate pushups…I’d rather dance!
8. Which super power would you want to have and why? Teleportation. What better way to get out of a bad scenario and onto a tropical island?
9. If we looked inside your fridge, what would we find? Monster Energy, every condiment known to man, avocados, leftovers, and all things cheese!
10. Who would you cast to play you in a movie? Cameron Diaz.
11. Dumb and Dumber: Greatest movie ever or Greatest movie ever? I heart Lloyd Christmas!
12. Mortgage rates have continued to descend to levels not seen in more than a half-century — a seductive sub-4 percent for an average 30-year fixed loan, yet brokers and lenders report the tougher standards force many Americans to not qualify. Do you believe long-term U.S. Treasury bonds, a safe haven during the recession, will eventually lose some appeal, thus lowering their demand and causing their yields to rise, in effect bringing the mortgage plummet to an end or will the debt burdens of European countries, despite the most recent G20′s “plan of action” towards economic recovery, continue to drive down Treasury yields, dropping mortgage rates even lower? …..This is a question for my pops, not me!
13. Are you a beer, wine or mixed drink kind of girl? Depends on the location. If I’m in Nashville or watching a game, it’s beer, out with my friends, it’s wine, and any other time, margaritas=muy bueno!
14. What’s the first thing you notice about a guy? His smile and teeth!
15. What would you say your biggest vice is? Shopping + spending money I don’t have!
16. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Roll Pop? I guess it depends on how good it tastes.
17. Ketchup or Mustard on your hot dogs? Both, please!
18. What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? My friend and I were at a club in Cincy that is no longer around ( thank God! ). We were dancing on a 6′ high platform, and she was backin’ it up into me. I took one step back too many, and we fell onto our backs to the floor ( I grabbed her around the waste for support, so it looked like I was giving her the heimlich). The dj literally stopped the record and the entire club came over to see if we were “ok”!
19. Favorite place to eat at 4 a.m.? Tolly Ho in Lexington or Waffle House around NKY.
20. When you’re out, you tend to dance…on the dance floor or on the bar? Wherever I can get the most space…I like to move!
Turn ons: Loyalty, a good sense of humor, a great smile, ambition
Turn offs: Bad teeth, rudeness, bad hygiene, bad listeners, people insanely full of themselves
Favorites:
Food? Love a good cheeseburger, but Italian is prob my all-time fave
Sport? Basketball
Animal? Monkeys are the most entertaining to watch
Song? Sweet Dreams are Made of This-Eurythmics
TV Show? Private Practice
Movie? Girl’s Just Want to Have Fun and Tootsie
Book? The Hunger Games series
Bar/Club/Hangout? Longworth’s in Mt. Adams
