Is it Tebow time?
The question that is looming for all fantasy owners, is it time to start grabbing Tim Tebow? With Mark Sanchez continual bad play, it has to be only a matter of time before the New York Jets turn to the beast that is Tim Tebow. Last season as a fantasy quarterback Tim Tebow produced a solid point total almost every week, averaging over 17 points a week. As of right now that would put him as the 12th best fantasy quarterback.
Now I will admit having the 12 best fantasy quarterback on your roster doesn’t sound that enticing, but there are a couple of factors that make Tebow enticing. First off, you have to think that after another off-season that his pass accuracy has to improve. If he simply develops the ability to be a mediocre passer, he would become a huge offensive force. His ability to make plays with his feet adds a factor that most defenses can’t handle. Generally with running quarterback teams, defenses have to sacrifice a defender in the pass game to stop the scrambling QB. If he improves through the air, he could be scary good, fantasy-wise.
Second, the Jets focus on the ground game and that should help Tebow. This could allow for some gaudy run totals. I would not be shocked to see him eclipse the 75 yard rushing total every week with this offense.
The final factor that makes Tim Tebow exactly the person you should look to add is his ability to make plays. The kid ran for over 600 yards in 12 games last year. That is ridiculous. Add in his ability to produce touchdowns through the air and his fantasy prowess becomes a scary proposition.
Only once all year last year did he not find his way in the end zone.
I implore all fantasy owners to sacrifice a spot for Tim Tebow right now. Eventually you will either have a solid backup or potential trade bait to help you in another position. The time to grab him is now before he takes over as the Jets’ quarterback.
