Start Em’ QB - Matt Cassel KC, Eli Manning NYG, & Andrew Luck IND

eli6301 500x198 Fantasy Football Week 3 Start Em Sit Em

Cassel will get the passing game going against the New Orleans Saints, who haven’t been able to stop anybody. The Saints and the Chiefs should put up some points so any player on either team should be a good play. Eli Manning may have lost two of his primary weapons but he still has Victor Cruz and will still have to throw it a lot to keep up with the Panthers. Luck’s consistent performance thus far should have owners salivating over his week three opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars have struggled against the pass and I wouldn’t expect that to change this week.

Sit Em’ QB - Alex Smith SF, Sam Bradford STL, & Peyton Manning DEN

Call it a gut play, but I expect Alex Smith’s main job this weekend to be handing the ball off to different 49ers rushers. That could make it difficult for him to score points. The Bears won’t give Bradford the same luxury he has been given in the first two games of the season. Expect Bradford to be picked off a couple times this week. If Manning struggled against the Atlanta defense, he should be in a world of trouble against Houston. I would have serious concerns about his 0-line stacking up against the Texans’ strong attack. Also don’t forget that his time on the field may be limited as Houston dominates the time of possession with their solid rushing attack.

Start Em’ RB - Michael Bush CHI, Frank Gore SF, & Alfred Morris WAS

Owners who banked on Matt Forte getting injured will be rewarded this week with a nice meaty matchup against St. Louis. Michael Bush should have a big week this week. Harbaugh will give the keys to the 49ers bus to Frank Gore this week and I would expect him to barrell his way to a couple of scores. It’s time to jump on the Alfred Morris bandwagon as he continues to be Shanahan’s go to back. With all other rushers seeing little to no action on the field, expect him to tear through a injured Bengals defense.

Sit Em’ RB - Steven Jackson STL, Michael Turner ATL, & Shonn Greene NYJ

Steven Jackson has injuries concerns and a backup running back that performed well in his place last week. I wouldn’t trust him to give you much coming off of that. Michael Turner’s run of bad luck continues with news of a DUI. I wouldn’t expect him to be the feature back this week. The Miami Dolphins have done a great job of making teams one dimensional. I would expect Shonn Greene to have tough sledding this week.

Start Em’ WR - Marques Colston NO, Victor Cruz NYG, & Brandon Lafell CAR

Marques Colston’s injury concerns seem to have him off a slow start. If he’s going to get it going, it’s going to be this week against the worst defense in football. With Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw going down, Cruz should see even more looks in the New York Giants offense. With injury concerns around Steve Smith, Brandon Lafell has stepped up to the number one wide receiver role in Carolina. A pretty good spot to be in a Cam Newton led offense.

Sit Em’ WR - Vincent Jackson TB, Oakland Raiders Wide Receivers, & Kenny Britt TEN

I would temper expectations on Vincent Jackson this week. Instead, expect a similar performance to what he did week one. Thus far, Carson Palmer’s most consistent receiver has been Darren McFadden. Until things change, it looks like Oakland’s main passing attack is going to be Palmer checking down to Mcfadden. It looks like Kenny Britt is still working his way through being in shape. You can’t bet on a guy who only garnered one reception last week.

Start Em’ TE - Brent Celek PHI & Martellus Bennett NYG

If there has been one weakness thus far for the Arizona defense, it has been the fact that tight ends have been able to tear up their interior. Celek is already one of Vick’s favorite targets, so you should see them utilize him well this week. With all of the injuries you are left wondering who is left in the Giants’ offense. Enter Martellus Bennett, who should be a productive member for his fantasy owners due to the simple fact that Eli Manning has no other target to throw to.

Sit Em’ TE – Fred Davis WAS & Jacob Tamme DEN

With Fred Davis picking up a concussion and having only a minor part thus far in the Redskins passing attack I would recommend looking another way this week. Last week Tamme seemed to be on the field about the same as backup tight end Joel Dreesen. Until this position is more defined, it looks like Tamme is a fringe fantasy tight end at best.

Start EM’ DEF - Detroit Lions & Pittsburgh Steelers

The Lions should have a field day this week as they get the benefit of playing a barely healthy Jake Locker and a terribly unproductive Chris Johnson. The Steelers face a Raiders offense that can’t seem to find any momentum. There should be plenty of sacks and possibly a couple of turnovers for the Steel Curtain this Sunday.

Lock of the Week – Drew Brees New Orleans Saints

I find it hard to believe this will be the week that the Chiefs defense finally shows up. Expect a vintage Drew Brees performance with 300+ yards and two touchdowns.

Intriguing play of the week – Wes Welker NE

With Aaron Hernandez going down, someone is going to have to step up to take his place. Wes Welker should see his way out of the dog house simply out of necessity.
