For the second strait year, Strait Pinkie was lucky enough to be selected to attend the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Crown Royal’s Capture the Crown program.
Last year the team compiled of myself, Chris Stout of ManJr, and David Dennis of The Smoking Section dominated the competition, taking first place and earning a trip to the 2013 NBA All-Star Game in the process. Well, much like the 2003 Florida Marlins, our team was decimated after the victory and we were each forced to defend the crown with a different team.
The sting of not being able to defend the crown with my former teammates quickly subdued as I met my 2013 teammates, Tracy Pendergast of The Smoking Jacket and the hilarious new Shark Week commercial, Jay Casteel of Baller Status, and Brett Singer of Daddy Tips.
Needless to say, they were all beasts. Now go check out their websites.
After running around Indianapolis Motor Speedway like a bunch of crazy people for two days, accomplishing task after task, we fell just short of the crown. We finished in second place, mere points away from claiming the prize of 2014 Super Bowl tickets in NEW YORK CITY!!!!
As weird as it may sound, not winning Super Bowl tickets did not really sting, at all. Sure, winning them would have been crazy awesome, but I had one of the greatest weekends of my life in Indy and winning them would have been really good cherry on an already amazingly delicious sundae.
We had access to everything at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And I mean everything. We took a lap around the track in a pace car. We hung out in the Crown Royal suite and were served drink after drink. We were treated to a V.I.P. Justin Moore concert and then even got to drink a beer or two or 12 with the country music star. We did our radio show from the media center. After having her on our radio show for about a year, we were able to meet Miss Sprint Cup Kim Coon in person. That did not suck. She’s pretty.
And we got to watch the race from anywhere we wanted. Pit road…yeah go there. The suite to chill out….sure. The media center…yeah go kick it with Marty Smith.
It was awesome.
Even with all of that, the highlight of all highlights might have been the people. We were reunited with friends from last year, met some great new friends, and got to once again kick it with the Taylor Strategy crew. That crew knows how to throw one hell of an event and they know how to party, too. Thanks guys!
And finally, yeah I know I’ve mentioned like fifty things, we got to meet and talk to the namesake of the Crown Royal presents the Samuel Deeds 400 at the Brickyard, Samuel Deeds. Deeds, a resident of Erlanger, KY truly represents an American Hero and it was awesome to meet him and to see him get the attention he deserves.
After the event, he even hit me up with a follow on Twitter. Thanks Samuel, now I’m up to like five followers.
So, five twitter followers, some Crown Royal to go, and a lifetime of memories is what I walk away with after a great weekend in Indianapolis.
Thanks to Crown Royal, Taylor Strategy, Samuel Deeds, and all of the participating websites for allowing StraitPinkie.com to simply be a part of it.
It was an absolute blast.
