A U.S. cage fighter ripped out the heart of his training partner while he was still alive after becoming convinced he was possessed by the devil, it was alleged today.

Jarrod Wyatt also cut out Taylor Powell’s tongue and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that police said looked like a scene from a horror film, officers said.

They claim they found the 26-year-old standing naked over his friend’s body with parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room in Klamath, California. Wyatt allegedly told police he had drunk a cup of tea spiked with hallucinogenic mushrooms and became convinced Powell was possessed.

According to an autopsy Powell, 21, bled to death after his heart was ripped out.

THESSALONIKI, Greece – Greek officials say a horde of frogs has forced the closure of a key northern highway for two hours.

Thessaloniki traffic police chief Giorgos Thanoglou says “millions” of the amphibians covered the tarmac Wednesday near the town of Langadas, some 12 miles east of Thessaloniki.

“There was a carpet of frogs,” he said.

Authorities closed the highway after three car drivers skidded off the road trying to dodge the frogs. No human injuries were reported.

Thanoglou said the amphibians probably left a nearby lake to look for food.

AOL Weird News – American theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, who is featured on the Science Channel’s “SciQ Sundays,” told AOL News that in physicist Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity, the concept of time is like a river.

“Einstein taught us that there’s a fourth dimension, known as time, and that we freely move back and forth in space, but doing that in time is a little more complicated.”

Kaku says that as early as 1935, Einstein considered the possibility of using wormholes — theoretical holes in time — as potential roadways for time travel. He also suggests a black hole — a region of space that transforms space and time — as another method for traveling through time.

“Black holes distort this fabric of space-time maximally, and you can show that black holes can be time machines,” Kaku said. “If you go through a black hole, in principle, you can go to another point in space-time, just like [the fictional] Alice’s looking-glass.”

Across the pond, England’s leading physicist, Stephen Hawking, agrees that there’s a fourth dimension, or “a length in time as well as space.”

Hawking suggests in his Discovery Channel series, “Into the Universe,” that wormholes and black holes could be useful in achieving time travel.

Writing in the U.K’s Daily Mail, Hawking, who refers to himself as a “physicist, cosmologist and something of a dreamer,” wonders if it’s possible to open “a portal to the past or find a shortcut to the future … and can we ultimately use the laws of nature to become masters of time itself?

“Time travel was once considered a scientific heresy. I used to avoid talking about it for fear of being labeled a crank,” Hawking wrote. “But these days I’m not so cautious.”

Hawking says he’s obsessed with time and suggests that, to understand time the way most physicists do, it’s important to consider the fourth dimension.

Putting aside for the moment all of the scientific rules, equations and technology that would be required to make time travel a practical reality, what about the dangers of moving into a black hole or wormhole to try and get to the other side of the “looking-glass”?

“The question is, if you go into this wormhole, does the wormhole stay open, is it stable as you go through it?” Kaku said. “And Hawking goes back and forth on this question.”

Just trying to get you thinking on this slow Friday. I’ve always thought the teleporter would be the most unstoppable invention of all time. Think of how many places you could teleport to.

Oh, it’s Spring Break 2011 and you’re sick of chillin’ in Louisville. No problem at all. Just hop into your teleporter, skip on down to Panama City Beach, drink you some free beers, and play some mater’s on the beach.

Still, the time machine would be unstoppable as well.

“March 7, 2010, will go down in history as the first time two top-10 supercentenarians died on the same day,” said Robert Young, of the Gerontology Research Group. “This is a very elite group, the very top of the population pyramid.”

Mary Josephine Ray, certified by the research group as the oldest person living in the U.S. and the second oldest in the world, died early Sunday at a nursing home in Westmoreland, N.H. She was 114 years and 294 days old.

Hours later, Daisey Bailey, the oldest living black person in the world and the fifth-oldest person in the world, died at 10:03 p.m. in Detroit, Young said. Born March 30, 1896, in Tennessee, she was 113 years and 342 days old, Young said. The gerontology group certified her age using two Censuses, but her family believes she was born on the same day one year earlier, he added.

Perspect the fact that both of these awesome people were born in the 1890′s. Then put into perspective everything that they have seen in their life. There is not a century in the history of the world that saw as much happen as the 1900′s. The Car. The Computer. The Television. Everything happened in the 1900′s. When Daisey was 30 years old, in 1926, do you think she ever imagined a black president? I love this country and these two ladies saw it all.

Give it up for Big Aaron Seibers. While he may be a complete and total moran, at least he had the nuts to do what 99.9% of us feel like doing every each day.

(UK) – The prospect of working the nightshift at a 24-hour video rental shop proved too much for one employee – so he stabbed himself in the leg.

Aaron Seibers, 29, told colleagues at the Blockbuster outlet in the Denver town of Edgewater that three skinheads or Hispanic males dressed in black had tried to rob him and knifed him in the lower left leg.

Police launched a manhunt with search dogs for the attackers, but became suspicious after viewing CCTV footage from cameras outside a shop near where Siebers said he was stabbed.

Siebers, who had a deep wound to his leg, was taken to St Anthony’s Hospital in Denver after reporting the incident.

One camera captured him as he got off a bus near the Blockbuster store where he was not limping. Other footage showed no attack like the one he described near a Target store.

After he was released from hospital, detectives confronted him and he confessed that he came up with the ruse because he did not want to go to work.

Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis said: ‘If you are going to concoct a story about being stabbed, don’t do it near a Target store.’

Siebers has been charged with false reporting and obstructing police.

Without medicine to cure the potentially contagious disease, TB-stricken patients were sent to sanitoriums such as Waverly in hopes of being cured, but often to just live out their time until the disease got the best of them. Waverly was considered one of the top TB hospitals in America, and could accommodate at least 400 patients.

Luckily, antibiotics to help alleviate TB were discovered in the 1950s, and the disease became less prevalent, lowering the demand for places like Waverly.

Due to the large number of deaths that occurred at the current Waverly building between its opening in 1926 to its closure in 1961, many claim the premises is haunted. There have been claims and reports of ghostly apparitions now that it is a tourist attraction, and the building is open as a haunted house during the month of October, with paranormal and historical tours are also available to schedule.

Several lame TV shows investigating paranormal activities, such as SciFi’s GhostHunters and VH1′s Celebrity Paranormal Project, have visited Waverly in hopes of searching out the supernatural, and boosting their lowly ratings.

If the building truly is haunted, it seems the ghosts would be none too happy with the haunted house and the tours, as this almost seems to make a mockery of their presence.

One of the creepiest parts of Waverly Hills is the body chute, which was a large tunnel originally constructed so employees would have a safer way to get up the large hill where the hospital sits. In this 500-foot long tunnel, it is pretty much pitch black, with the exception of vent shafts located about every 100 feet to let in a little light and provide some ventilation. The tunnel was also used to cart supplies up to the facility, but it was eventually used to transport the bodies of those who had passed, that way they were out of sight for fellow patients.

This was probably a good strategy move by Waverly management, as seeing your friends wheeled out the front door into a hearse can’t be good for morale.

Mad props have to be given to the Waverly staff, as they were forced to live in buildings on the Waverly campus due to the contagious nature of the disease. Thankfully, antibiotics and medicine have made TB very rare in our society today.

At Waverly and TB’s peak, alternate healing methods were used to help alleviate the pain for patients. Virtually all windows in the building were kept open, as the open air helped the wheezing and coughing patients suffered, as well as airing out the germs. Lots of arts and crafts time and other hands-on activities were also practiced in attempt to keep the patients’ mind of their affliction. Once radio was invented, it was also a prevalent feature in sanatoriums, allowing bed-resting folks to get some entertainment.

Too bad there were no video games or flat-screen TVs in this era, as they would have made welcome additions for staff and sufferers alike.

(Oct 29) A Somali man who claims to be 112 years old has married for the sixth time, and he hopes to have children with his 17-year-old bride.

Hundreds of people attended the wedding this week in the town of Guriceel in central Somalia, according to reports Thursday by the BBC as well as in The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian newspapers.

“Today God helped me realize my dream,” groom Ahmed Muhamed Dore said, according to The Guardian.

The bride, Safia Abdulleh, did not comment, but her family said she was “happy with her new husband” — even though he is nearly a century her senior.

BBC reporter Mohammed Olad Hassan, who is based in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, said Dore told him he was born in 1897 and he has a traditional birth certificate, written on a goat skin by his father.

Dore has 13 children by his five previous wives. His oldest son is 80. Three of his wives have died, but the remaining two consented to the new wedding, as did the bride’s parents and the groom’s children.

Altogether, Dore has 114 children and grandchildren.

But he said he hopes to have more children with his new wife, who is young enough to be his great-great-granddaughter.

“It is a blessing to have someone you love to take care of you,” he said, according to the BBC.

In 1941, Dore joined the British colonial forces as a solider, where he served for 10 years, the BBC said. After Somalia gained independence in 1960, he became a police officer.

Although it’s not unusual for Somali girls to marry older men, the reports cited historians in the Horn of Africa nation as saying this wedding was the first marriage with such a great age disparity in more than a century.

Dore said he and his bride are from the same village, and he waited for her to grow up.

“I didn’t force her, but used my experience to convince her of my love, and then we agreed to marry,” he said.

I want to know how one of the bystanders doesn’t walk in and just kick old man’s ass for hitting and kicking a chick.

These people are showing up at the club and showing off their fat, or “phat” as they call it. They are even calling it the new “Phat” movement.

Lisa Marie Garbo, a vivacious, 40-year-old blonde partial to flamboyant outfits of tight-fitting pants and low-cut tops, said she opened the club for herself and others who were tired of being “the only fat girl at the local nightclub.”

The club, with a capacity of 400, attracts relatively equal numbers of men and women, although Garbo says about three-quarters of the women tend to be heavy, while only about a quarter of the men are.

“Self-conscious? No! Not at all,” laughs Monique Lopez, a curvaceous woman of 23 as she arrives in a tight, black dress and heels. “I was like, ‘I’m going to Club Bounce tonight. I’m going to wear my shortest skirt.’”

“When you’re not what they consider ideal, you know, and you’re out there trying to get your dance on at those other places, you get the looks, the stares. But not here. Everything’s accepted here,” says Vanessa Gray of Long Beach, an attractive 30-something woman who acknowledges jovially that after giving birth to three children, “I’ve got a little more meat on my bones.”

“It’s nice to have a place to go where you can do a little flirting and maybe bring your thin sister or somebody from work who isn’t fat, and they’ll be in your world for awhile,” says McAfe, a pioneer of the fat advocacy movement. “That’s an amazing experience for a lot of people who aren’t fat, to spend a day or night in a world of fat people.”
