PIZZA, PILSNERS & PUTTS – At “Caddy Shack Pizza”

By: Reggie P | July 28th, 2010 | Category: Entertainment -Sports

Formerly known as “Shooters”, “Caddy Shack Pizza” is the professionals’ playground for Southwest (Valley Station, PRP & Shively) Louisville, KY! Caddy Shack Pizza is still ran by Larry Davis; who got his start in pizza and just happened to like golf.

Caddy Shack Pizza boasts 4-6 virtual golf courses, a front social/ smoking deck, digital dart boards, pool tables and arcade games, which are spread throughout this mature playground. At Caddy Shack Pizza, you will also find a menu that gives Wick’s Pizza a run for their money! The Owner’s favorite pizza selection is the “LOAD UP CHAMP”. This slice of pizza paradise is one-and-a-half inches thick, has over ten, yeah 10 toppings! Sausage, Pepperoni, Black Olives, Green Olives, Green Peppers, two cheeses, homemade tomamto sauce…and the list just keeps going!

Not only is the pizza good…the people who run this mighty pizza-making joint aren’t that bad either. When I visited Larry’s – Caddy Shack Pizza, I was greeted with smiles and warm welcomes. The people you see working at Caddy Shack Pizza are the same people you’ll see grocery shopping at Kroger on Sunday morning, hustling through the isles of Super Walmart, drinking a beer at Pit Stop liquors (Greenwood Road) or discussing the next PRP High School sports star.

The Caddy Shack Pizza team is made up of people who you grew up with that will treat you with the respect that you won’t find many other places around town.

So, the next time you have a taste for a good ole’ slice of pizza, drop by Caddy Shack Pizza. They’ll make sure you get your belly full and they definitely make sure you’ll have fun in the process!

Pubs – Perfect Place for Suds and Grub…without the Club

By: Reggie P | July 26th, 2010 | Category: Entertainment

Bar, tavern, saloon, beer-gardening, drinking-hole…are all different names for a pub. Dating back to the pub’s early forms known as a “Public House” in many parts of Europe, the pub has always been a community based establishment that served its patrons suds and grub.

Some pubs offered lodging and adult entertainment for its customers: before during and after hours. “rum-runners” would often use pubs as a truck stop, so-to-speak, when making long distance runs during the prohibition era. In exchange for a hideout; the “rum-runner” would offer the pub wwner a case or two of the booz he was running in exchange for a little rest and relaxation from the law!

As most modern drinking establishments, pubs had to adhere to strict laws and often “bucked” the system when inspectors visited the premises. According to a forklore website, one pub was being inspected; the owner of the pub knew he would fail the inspection so he got the inspector drunk, gave him a room and the inspector got fired for not returning to work. The next day the inspector was bartending for the pub!

Speaking of bartending…most pubs have one bartender, who is usually second in command and well known by patrons, and a few waitors or waitresses. Pubs most often have a diverse food menu that is complimentary to the alcohol that they serve.

Some things never get old. Some things rarely change and for the pub this is an absolute truth!

In Louisville, KY, pubs are becoming more popular than ever. Hell, Baxter avenue has over six pubs in a three block area.

For my generation, the club scene is not so cool anymore. The pub is where it’s at. You can take a buddy, your girl/boy friend or even family. Enjoy some unique brew and or liquors, listen to soft music (in some cases, live-bands) all while chowing down on a good meal! I’ve listed some of my favorite pubs here in Louisville, KY. The rest is up to you.

From me to Da’Ville!

Reggie P’s Favorite Pubs:

1. R Place Pub/ 9603 Whipps Mill Rd./ Louisville, KY / 502-425-8516
2. Pub Louisville/ 412 S. 4th Street/ Louisville, KY / 502-569-7782
3. Diamond Pub & Billiards/ 3814 Frankfort Ave./ Louisville, KY / 502-895-7513
4. RiRa Irish Pub / 445 South 4th Street / Louisville, KY / 502-587-1825

“Go Hard or Go Home” Album Release Party – Relax, Relate…Release!!!

By: Reggie P | July 20th, 2010 | Category: Music

SuperCool FlyerDontae Duncan is a guy, like most guys, you’d would meet on an average day: busy with the hustle and bustle of everyday life; he talks about advancing and absorbs any advices to improve his personal life but, he also has that “star-power” that is intangible.

His vernacular is basic…in ordinary, everyday conversation: “uh yump; I feel ya; that’s what’s up cuz and I’ll holla at ya.”  When talking to Mr. Duncan, you would think he was that guy that worked a regular job and lived next door to you, or  live next door to one of your family members.  If you were thinking that (Dontae was an average guy) based on my description of him in the aforementioned….you must not know “Supa Cool”!

“Supa Cool” is Dontae Duncan’s alter ego.  A super cool guy, who forms complex word structures and submits them to Compact Discs recordings as smooth as, and as swift as, a MLB baseball player spits Kodiak into is water bottle during the Pennant Race!

On “Supa Cool’s” new mixtape entitled – “Supa Mixtape” Volume 1 produced by Grindin’ Hard Record.  “Supa Cool” demostrates his utterances of daily life into a form every ear can relate to.  As in one of the hit singles on the mixtape, “Body Shop“, featuring “Dirty Mouth” and other acts of “Trillville” ( # 14 on the U.S. Hot 100 list of 2004); explains the mindframe of a single man telling the naked truth to the ladies: “Sexy Red-bone/but I prefer chocolate – caramel or vanilla/ I’m just weighting out my options/ Long as ya body banging – then it shouldn’t be a problem/ The “Body Shop” is open/ Baby we can get it poppin!”  Sums up the gist of “Supa Cool” and Dontae Duncan’s lyrical mindframe.

He also has other songs you’d have to listen to – to get a good understanding of Louisville, KY’s crowned superstar…and a superstar he is!

On Thursday, 7/22/2010, you can meet Louisville, KY’s true hip-hop superstar!  Where? Slammers @ 2800 South Crums Lane (in between Dixie Highway and Cane Run Road).  What time?  From 10p.m. – until – only $5.00, before 12a.m.!

Contact information – 502-618-3588 or email: ghard_records@yahoo.com

Be there…you don’t want to miss a time to relax, relate and release…with a superstar you will love forever!  Cool people, stiff drinks and plenty of entertainment, and plus you have a reason to drink on a Thursday night!

Thanks to the entertainment visionary Andy Warhol, and the specialized film making skills of Ryan Daly and Andrew Vititoe; “film participants [will be placed] in front of a blue screen while a real time editor cuts the captured footage into a pre-exisiting, [of] classic films.” - J. Christian Walsh of LEO Weekly explains.
I mean, you could get your “film-making” buddy to film you on his Best Buy digital video cam recorder; download some cheesy film editing software from Google; upload your favorite movie and try to synchronize the two pieces of film material while ya’ll toss back countless bottles of Bud Light – but, really, how many times will have a chance to be professionally “mashed up” (put in a movie without being in original production) in a Hollywood BlockBuster?!
I leave you with this…be cool, gather up some friends or babysit your niece or nephew (if you don’t have rug-rats of your own) and take them to the Speed Art Museum “Super Star Video” - tonite and be a hero for life! Now get on the phone; start getting ready, get your people together and go – it starts at seven o’clock! lol

StraitPinkie.com is: “WEBPAGE PARADISE FOR MEN” – SPORTS, WOMEN & ENTERTAINMENT…

By: Reggie P | July 13th, 2010 | Category: Uncategorized

Most men search the world wide web looking for things like: sports updates, women and entertainment. We are hard-wired to seek out information on the aforementioned topics for various reasons but, the reason we search for sports, women and entertainment, in my eyes, is simple – we’re men!

Dating back to the 1st and 2nd century (between 30-150 BC) of the Roman Era; man has flaunted his power and supremacy via: Professional Fighting (gladiators); Board Games such as Tali & Tropa, which meant “knucklebones”, today referred to as Dominoes in which a man could display his mental dominance. As far as men searching for women and entertainment…look no further than the infamous Roman Bath Houses!

The Roman Bath Houses were centrally located in the middle of a metropolois which provided easy access to women and entertainment. Men would visit these Roman Bath Houses and, as you would expect, get showered by a woman; fed food and drinks and leave real happy.
As you have read, us men are surely seekers of a good time but, sometimes look in all the wrong places to find a good time.
Well, look no further! Straitpinkie.com is a “Webpage Paradise” for all men…and some women! What do I mean by “a webpage paradise for men”? Straitpinkie.com has a team of writers who make sure our primary market (professional business men – 21-35 years old) gets the information they want…and need! We offer an array of regional sporting stats and information regarding U of K, U of L.

We also have a section dedicated to beautiful women of our region; this section is called: the “YUMP!” section. And now we offer a new section that will help you navigate your night-life with quickness and ease! Every week we will update you on: the best places to eat, the best places to find women and the best places to party!
Though we can’t promise you a Roman Bath House! We do promise you a new entertainment/ night-life section that will serve as your all access pass to the hottest entertainment spots in Louisville and throughout the Bluegrass State!
